Codes of Conduct

As a visitor or resident of Pembrokeshire you can participate in a wide variety of activities. The outdoors is an environment and experience that should not be missed given the opportunity. Most of Pembrokeshire offers unspoilt habitats and some spectacular scenery which all add to the enjoyment of whatever activity you do. There is something to suit everyone whether it's a leisurely walk along the coast or in the hills, or something a little more energetic like coasteering or surfing. If you have never tried an activity or if you are a season professional, Pembrokeshire can accommodate you.

The charter set up to ensure that the activities they were doing could be sustained and had as little impact on the environment as possible. As such all member organisations have agreed to follow the code of conduct below when planning and participating in activities.

  • All leaders used have been trained under the relevant governing body’s guidelines.
  • If appropriate: The centre is accredited with the Wales Tourist Board Scheme for Activity Providers.
  • If appropriate: The centre is registered with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority.
  • We will show consideration for landowners and residents and to other users of the area.
  • We will liase closely with the National Park Authority and with landowners over the use of sites and the organisation of activities.
  • We will abide by countryside access legislation and by local agreements.
  • We will try to avoid damage to sites and disturbance to wildlife.
  • We will help develop the Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter and will encourage others to adopt it.
  • As part of our leadership, we will seek to encourage clients to develop a respect for the landscape of Pembrokeshire, its wildlife and people.

As outdoor pursuits becomes more and more popular and increasing numbers put pressure on the environment we ask everyone participating in activities in Pembrokeshire to adopt the code of conduct developed by the Outdoor Charter. This will ensure that Pembrokeshire can be enjoyed well into the future. Details of some activities are listed to the left for those of you interested in participating. There are also some key considerations listed below each individual activity. If on the other hand you are looking to utilise the experience of one of the many members of the group look for the outdoor Charter Certificate issued annually to all active members.
